2000 Citroen Synergie was tested when engine managment light came on low pressure

have had problem with wifes synergie for while now one of injector ports keeps filling with diesel cleaned it out a while ago so it was dry and since then it has filled up again had a friend who put tester on it and it came up with code and that it was low pressure when he looked on net and that it could be pump on diesel tank or that it was main fuel pump on engine when its running when light is on it smokes a bit and sounds rough when its idling without light on it sounds like timing is out cause it ticks over and hunts took it for mot saturday it flew through but spoke to them and they said it could be low pressure pump just dont know what to do as garage said they could take it in and run tests but would cost alot for them and being out work at min not helping they said theres definetly a leak as he got rag by injector and it was diesel hope some one can help!!!!!!!!!!!

the pump in the tank is a low pressure or lift pump. its job is to lift fuel out of the tank up to the high pressure pump in the engie. the high pressure pump is the pump in the engine and it feeds the injectors. the pressure is so high created from that pump can kill if sprayed onto skin as it will just pass straight through skin. if there is a leak after the high pressure pump going to the injectors then there should be a misfire as the will be little diesel going to the injector which will cause a low pressure. i would try and determine where the leak is from and replace the component and see how it gets on.

thanks for that dell boy have had a mechanic round today and he has said it looks like seals on injectors are on way out as it smokes and its chuffing there was diesel in 3 of the holes next to where injectors are seated he checked injectors and said he couldnt feel that much air coming out if any and to run it for while until holes fill up again so he can see which injectors are leaking and just repair what needs doing as could work out expensive to repair and replace all injector seals plus they bugger to get to so just gotta wait now if not then have to have test done on ecu to see what that saying as engine managment light comes on regular
