Could try bleeding air out of cooling system . If air returns after bleeding , could be head gasket .

take car for a run to bring up to temp then park up switch off engine then very carefully fell the top and bottom hoses of rad. if only one hot chances are thermostat has failed. if rad is hot would suggest head gasket has failed. simply once cool checking the underside of the oil cap for water is a good indication if the head gasket has gone. if it has you would find a milky like gue on the cap.
