2000 Citroen Saxo high revs!!!!

Car: Citroen Saxo
Year: 2000
Variant: 1.6 VTR
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi, I have bought a Citroen Saxo 1.6 VTR last week and when test driving it and getting it home, the car sounded fine. However, now pretty much every other time I turn the engine on the car revs really high. this is happening when the car is idle, no pedal pressing, nothing. Once I start moving, the revving stops, however when I do stop, press the clutch in when moving or stopping, the revs accelerate! Please can someone help as it sounds like my car is about to blow up when it happens!! :) Thanks x

Check idle control stepper motor .If needing new one , this gives idea of cost , but worth trying to clean with carb. cleaner
