2003 Citroen Saxo overheating issues

Car: Citroen Saxo
Year: 2003
Variant: 1.1
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
On starting journey temperature guage quickly rises to high and red warning light will come on. Can bring temp down by blasting heater on full hot. Worse when in traffic. Have had inspected and system has been flushed a number of times but no permanent fix. Is there a thermostat on this model? This would seem to be the obvious place to start.

Any help/advice much appreciated!

There is a thermostat on every car. Usually close to the top radiator hose on the engine side. Could be a stuck thermostat but most likely a faulty water pump or head gasket/head.

Don't use it in this hot weather you will eventually make it worse and cost you a fortune.

Taking the thermostat out will maybe buy you a bit of time but your only putting off th inevitable.

Has the oil cap got white mayonnaise, or drips of water. Is there oil in the water bottle? (Head gasket failure)
Are the radiator hoses rock hard? (Same as above.)
If you have loads of hot air in your car, then I would say the water pump is working and your thermostat is not stuck.

So I would diagnose head gasket failure
Sorry!
