1998 Citroen Saxo gearing / clutch

Car: Citroen Saxo
Year: 1998
Variant: 1.6i VTR
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch
I am having real trouble trying to get my car into gear lately, and am wondering if the problem could be down to the fact that the clutch cable has stretched? The reasoning behind this is simply because once I have depressed the clutch pedal it bites after only about 8 - 12mm. If this is the problem, does anybody know what the average cost would be to have a new cable fitted?

Thanks

well the cable will cost about 15 pounds from a motor factors and they are quite easy to replace so i wouldnt have said it would be expensive for a garage to replace as they only take about 20 to 30 mins to replace

if after replacing cable there's no difference the last resort is the clutch being worn and in need of replacement
