1997 Citroen Saxo connecting rev counter

Car: Citroen Saxo
Year: 1997
Variant: 1.1 petrol

Can I connect the rev counter live to a live wire at the diagnostic socket and if so which is the best wire to connect to?

Normally the rev. Counter is picked up off the alternator you would need a wiring diagram to pick up the wire.or are you just looking for a 12 volt connection for a gauge?

Am looking for a wire which supplies a current to get the rev counter working,,I have fitted a saxo 1999 dial cluster with rev counter to my 1997 saxo, now if the digital clock is not connected then rev counter works but I want both to work,,was told to connect a wire to either the ECU or the coil pack to a wire on the dial cluster, don't want to fiddle with the ECU so it would have to be any other wire,if have to connect to the coil pack or other, which wire and how do I check that its the correct one before doing a permanent connection?

Connect your clock to permanent live feed at the ignition switch and put an inline fuse in 10 amp should sffice

the cluster is obviously the wrong one unless you can get hold of a proper wiring diagram i wouldnt touch it.

Yes it is the wrong dial cluster but thats the one I want to use, don't want a stand alone rev counter set up as they destroy the look Im after and insurance company will hike costs if any extra gauges are added,I don't want that
