2000 Citroen Saxo whining noise

Whining noise every morning an hour into journey to work in traffic same place everyday, whithin a mile, but ok driving home without traffic , take out of gear and noise still there so musnt be an engine problem coz when rev engine no change, try to drive out of it then when whine goes and window open hear like metal rubbing together like brakes but brakes are fine and the whining isnt metal sounding, any ideas please as this is driving me mad , took to garage other day and the cv boot was un attached put back on and packed with grease , noise the same as before went garage

could be clutch release bearing.

Could well be layshaft bearing in the gearbox, which is a common problem, you will experience a whinning noise most of the time however it will go when clutch depressed.
May also be a wheel bearing noise, will gradually get worse as you speed up, noise may come and go while cornering
