contacted the dealer who wants £144 to do a diagnostic test ,just to tell me its not working properly, i feal i am being ripped off by Citroen

Sounds like it at that price for what seems to be a very common fault . Could ask if any software updates available . A possible cause is often a low car battery , worth checking voltage especially if low usage of car and short journeys and charging if needed .
