2013 Citroen DS4 main beam wont function

When you first turn on car and put on normal head lights is ok. Then go to main beam they do not work and diagnostic symbol comes on stays on until you turn off engine.
Thus failing mot .. garage said they do no t know what problem is .

Check the bulbs , if not that , check fuses .Could also be switch / stalk
