2005 Citroen C8 is it the cat converter or something else - drains battery

Hello again, not related to previous problem with radio last listed. One two occasions I have had a completely flat bettery in the morning. I have noticed that when I switch off, the motor under the car for the cat[?] or anti pollution sysytem, continues for a while and then dies down. It does not stop completely at times. So I have to reopen the car with the plip then close it and the motor shuts off. If this happens and I do not notice the motor still running - a flat battery next morning. Had a new cat fitted just about a year ago and new timing belt etc 10 months ago. The anti pollution warning lamp [engine] comes on, but has now gone off for two days continously.
Any suggestions before I put the head in the garage and get another 3k bill as I did for the timing belt!

the cat will not cause a battery drain,is the noise you are hearing coming from a cooling fan or similar,you need to check your battery drain with an ammeter,remove one fuse at a time untill the drain decreases,this will pinpoint which circuit is causing a drain,then once you have pinpointed the circuit you need to eliminate the source of drain,a wiring diagram will make it much easier to diagnose

Thanks Driver for your reply but this running of the motor sounds like a pre-heater. It has been looked at by a Citroen garage which suggests the drain comes from the flame motor????.It starts up as soon as the ignition is turned on.
