2005 Citroen C8 2.0lt hdi
Car: Citroen C8
Year: 2005
Variant: 2.0lt hdi
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
the car has an issue with idle and running in low revs with a whiteish smoke that is only present under around 1800 revs,
also like to mention idle is only a problem once it gets hot!
i believe ive located the part to an activated arm controled by an electrical switch part number 1951610 make is eaton.
firsty ive been told two things its a swirl valve is one and the other is evap activator,
if anyone can help maybe come across it before ive replaced both the swith and activator/arm but still no change,
has tjis engine got the chcarcoal canister? any advice or help would be great.

look forward to your responces

thanks in advance

That engine has TWO inlet manifolds.
Idea is to vary the inlet manifold length to improve power/throttle response.
And they can really only be tested with Citroen Lexia diagnostics and a vacuum pump.
But from your description and with no access to "Lexia"
I'd be checking the EGR first.
And charcoal canisters are really for petrol not diesel.

I believe the charcoal canister you refer to is the particulate filter. It could be an egr problem but may also be an injector problem. It would be a good idea to have a global scan for fault codes. Now you have replaced the swirl valve actuator does the arm move when over 1000 rpm

Hi thanks for the response,
Firstly a few extra details Citroen had the car and diagnosed number 1 injector what has been replaced but made no change.
I had a friend use his laptop to get codes egr was one and injectors but think this was due to unplugging for testing.
I removed and checked the egr valve and solenoid all where very clean.
The control arm is on the passenger side ( right when looking into engine) I'll get my friend back over to have a reset and check codes.
Thanks again for the help
