2003 Citroen C5 loss of power

Car: Citroen C5
Year: 2003
Variant: 2.0 litre SOHC diesel engine
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
When driving my car it loses power. If I ease off the accelerator it sometimes picks up! Or I change down a gear but that doesn't always work. It can happen at any time, at any speed and in any gear. It even happens sometimes pulling away.
Can anyone help?

Getting the car plugged in to a diagnostic reader (for example, at a Citroen garage) may reveal a fault recorded in the Engine Management System memory.

For example, the 'signal' sent from the accelerator to the EMS may be faulty, (resulting in the EMS providing the wrong input to the engine) or else, another electronic sensor has failed instead.

Diagnosis may possibly reveal which component is failing. There are many components in the system. Until a diagnostic test is carried out, little progress can be made.
