2003 Citroen C5 interior fan not working

Aircon/climate control fan indicator LCD "lights up" when ignition turned on. After starting, within seconds, the LCD fan only shows fan outlines and fan is off.
Citroen dealer suggests £350 for Climate control ECU panel.
Any other suggestions?

The control for the fan is a small push-in circuit board mounted on the tunnel just above the clutch pedal.
This module costing approx £55.00 off the internet will cost over a £100.00 if bought from Citroen.
