Was it correctly diagnosed as a faulty BSI with codes or just randomly replaced ?

Previous owner replaced the bsi with a second hand unit - symptoms remained the same, i don't think a bsi error code check was done, I've got a cheap code reader which doesn't show a bsi error but I'll see if i can borrow a better one..
