knocking from engine on acceleration ,does not seem to affect power.

i would say you need to replace the knock sensor on the engine this ajust the timing and fueling of the engine so it can run efficiently

Check crankshaft damper the metalastic unit falls apart after about 80000 miles and sounds like the bloody engine is falling out.You can get an upgrade from a good motor factors for about 60 quid.Dead easy to fit
