sounds to me like a wire has been trapped when putting box back in.

can not find any damaged wires but I would of thought the two warnings would be separate items the service light shows on my normal dash near my speedo and the worn brake pads warning is on the display in the centre of my dash board a separate screen thought they would be two separate circuits

The service light is coming on because of the brake warning light. it could be a faulty handbrake switch
