2008 Citroen C5 windscreen wipers gone mad

Is it possible that you havnt had the car long. If so you may not be using the controls properly, let me explain.

The first position moving the stalk up should be autowipe there fore the wipers will only activate when the windscreen is splashed with water and will operate at various intervals and speeds depending on how it reads the situation. This can sometimes be a bit erratic (quite normal)

The second position is intermitant and the third is full time manual.

When you pull the stalk down through full manual then intermitant mode the wipers are not off but in auto mode and this is why they only come on when windscreen is wet. you need to go down one more click to switch of completeley.

NOTE. the auto mode will not work if the glass is just wet. It needs to be splashed to activate wipers, so if it is dry but the windscreen has residual water on it you will have to go to the manual position to get wipers moving.
