Display screen staying dark in daytime for maps when iPhone plugged in

When I I plug in my iPhone to use maps the screen goes dark as in night mode even during day- I’ve looked at all settings and can’t find how to rectify it
Also, when I try to turn engine on, it says gone into economy mode and I have to turn it off and back on again

You should get your battery LOAD tested and charged / replaced if needed , especially if original ,On some cars if it goes into economy mode due to low battery it also cuts of non essential circuits to save battery power .
