2002 Citroen Berlingo leak from priming pump

Car: Citroen Berlingo
Year: 2002
Variant: 1.9d
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
hi having problems with the van it kangaroo'd a bit so changed the fuel filter, then it did it again but completly stopped. now it will not run for more than 3 seconds before dying again. was wondering if a small leak of fuel from the priming pump would be letting air into the system. also wondered how much pressure should be felt on priming the system it builds up resistance but i can keep pumping without it ever becoming too firm to depress, any thoughts?

Temporarily blocking of the inlet input hole then pumping the primer will tell you if the pump pick up is good.
Same with the outlet.
If the pump goes hard then the filter housing and pump are ok.
Or not.
And if the primer pump passes this simple test then the leak is elsewhere.
You could continue the testing using the primer pump and blocking off fuel lines,
The only difference with this and what I use is that I use a dedicated hand vacuum pump with a gauge,
And the gauge make all the difference as pressure can be monitored.
I think the hand vacuum tester was around £80 though they can be bought for cheaper.
It's called a "Mityvac".
