2003 Citroen Berlingo clutch cable

Recently the clutch cable snapped so I replaced it with a new one. The problem is that when I first use it the gear selection is smooth but after 10 mins of driving the clutch peddle begins to feel light and the gears become harder to engage. Have refit it twice now with the same outcome???

the download is the same as info sheet that came with the clutch......If the self adjust fully opened is it possible to reset it as looking at the old cable it seems to be made up of a spring held in place on a plastic base then covered with a rubber outer coil sealed to cable outer sleave
