Gear linkage
2004 Citroen Berlingo 1.9 hdi multispace manual

I was towing a caravan. Had to brake hard, 3-4 gear changes later the ball joint became disengaged. The AA managed to re attach it. When I saw my Mechanic, he found that when it was in reverse gear the ball was completely disengaged. Is this normal? If not how can it be fixed? Please

worn gear linkage ,needs replaced ,you may get the linkage ,but sometimes you hve to buy the complete unit ,which is costly
