All 4 dash guages, fuel, tacho, speed and temp,fluctuate in time with the dimming of the clock display at about 1/2 second intervals. There is also a slight engine hunt at the same speed. All dash lights and other electrical systems seem to be working Ok. The van was fine until it was parked up for the holidays.

Could check the earth wires in the engine bay near the passenger side headlight for corrosion / dampness .

I could only find 2 earth wires behind the passenger headlight ( are there more?) with a completely corroded fitting. I had to cut them and make a new earth bond. Annoyingly, no improvement. I also note that the lights flicker at the same rate, almost as if the alternator was tripping in and out.
