2000 Citroen AX reversing lights

reversing lights not working.
Have replaced bulbs
All other lights working.
Checked fuse this is okay.
Friend has done a test, there seems to be no live power coming from the gear box to the fuse for the lights.
Is there a reversing light switch! somewhere by the gear box which operates the lights.

Sounds like the reverse light switch may be faulty or stuck in the off position. The switch is located in the gearbox and is switched when you put it into reverse.
You'll need to get access to the gearbox to have a look at this. I'd recommend getting a qualified mechanic to have a look at it.

The is a switch in the gearbox and it could be that but have you checked the relay as well as the fuse?

Reverse light switch, very common on these cars, there is no relay on the circuit to check
