2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser power

Variant: 2.4 auto
looses power when driving for no apparent reason - has only done 17500 miles from new - last service at my Chrysler dealer couldn't find a problem and could only suggest changing the circuit boards at an enormous price - has any one else experienced similar??

Sorry no experience of that car but if you go here http://www.allpar.com/forums/index.php?act=idx , there is a PT Cruiser section which might help you . According to the forum you can check for fault codes by doing the following , might apply to your car .
Do you know how to check for error codes? On-off-on-off-on-off-on (on, not ignition start), then look in the odometer for codes to show up.
