2004 Chrysler Crossfire rough at low speed

had the engine light come on the dash , took it chrysler and they said the air pump for the inlet manifold is going but i strip it and it works fine , SHOULD this pump be on all the time as there isnt power going to it all the time ????? cheers mark

it should only come on for a short while during warm up depending on engine temp as to how long it runs for.
