Engine won’t turnover intermittently

Turn key to start & engine is dead, all dash lights are as normal, no clicks when using key, progressively become worse over several months, now it can start 1st time or take 30 times before it will suddenly turnover & runs perfectly.

A common fault on some is the ignition switch , not the actual key barrel but the switch at the back . This link has diagram that shows the switch . BUT there are many other possible causes and can be very hard to diagnose intermittent faults .
