N/side door handle not working

the door handle on the front n/side suddenly stopped working and now it will not open from the outside it will open from the inside and locks /unlocks as it should any ideas please

Maybe lever for external handle has come off ,it requires stripping ,or if externally adjustable handle there may be a screw cover on the outside that will let you adjust the handle .
