Car: BMW 5 Series
Year: 1996
Variant: 2.8 se auto
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
my car originaly overheated, i turned the engine off then let it cool down, then topped up the water with warm water. the car then drove approx 10 miles fine but the next day it kept overheating, found a small crack in the thermostat housing so i changed that but the the car would then not start eventually managed to start it but was still overheating so then changed the thermostat but that still did not cure the problem now it will start sometimes but with a lot of effort and when it does it overheats in mins or cuts out

Would be advisable to get a pressure test and a sniff test ( block test ) on cooling system .
