2000 BMW 5 Series engine not starting

parked car up at 5pm,no problems.went to start it at 5.30pm same day.central locking would not work and as soon as i put key in dash lights came on and went straight back out ,would not start

check battery connections and get the battery tested also check the engine and body earth strap be carefull if you try to jumpstart it as you can cause more damage if you do it wrongly
