My car started to overheat as I got home when I checked under bonnet I noticed that the fan was not running so let the car cool down when went back out before starting I checked water level and topped up about 1.5 pint then went to start car when turning key all lights light up including headlights but car not turning over only noises coming from dashboard if anybody has any idea would be much appreciated.

I have now got the car started dont know reason why it didn`t start but have done some checks now and fan is def not working could this be due to faulty thermostat?
