Central locking bounces when trying to lock with key and remote inop

hi
the bmw318 will not lock! every time i try to lock it, the locking bounces back up! the remote has also stopped working (coinsiding with this problem). however ir i put the ignition on then off and without opening the door operate the locking with the key it works ok (locks and unlocks), as soon as the door is opened the locking bounces again and will not lock.. any ideas?

sounds like it has had a door panel taken off and the rod has either been bent or not put in the right way
