2002 BMW 3 Series radiator keeps losing water

Car: BMW 3 Series
Year: 2002
Variant: 316i se 1.8
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi I have just bought my bmw 316i. I noticed the amber radiator warning light the other day telling me that the water levels in my radiator are low.I topped up the water level and a few hours later the warning light came back on and i noticed the car was starting to overheat I checked the water level and it had gone back down I then topped it up and left it stationed for 24 hours to see if their was a water leak but I could see no form of leak. Could someone please help me and tell me what the problem might be?

have you checked engine oil for signs of water mixing with oil, if so could be head gasket.

The expansion bottle on the side of the radiator could be leaking only when the engine is warm and the cooling system under pressure. Try running the car until its warm and then check for leaks. If the head gasket is gone and your loosing that much water the oil will either be cream or white smoke will be coming out of the exhaust.
