having problems when i press eccelerator it dont seem to respond till 3 or 4 seconds later but dont do it all the time and also seem to lack alot of power that it used to have. HELP PLEASE

hi there i have a 1993 bmw 318is auto and it works great except for when im stationary and i put my foot flat there is no power at all. it very slowly accelerats untell about 3500, 4000 rpm then it goes really great
