2004 BMW 3 Series manually release boot latch

Variant: ti
The boot is open and the latch is closed so I can't close the boot. It does not release when I trigger with the remote key or the internal door / trunk switch

On some locks if this happened you could manually flick the lock open again with a screwdriver , but dont know if this applies in your case
