1995 BMW 3 Series temperture gauge going into the red, and blowing cold air

after about half an hour of driving, the temperture gauge goes from half to almost in the red then back down, then keeps doing it, now cold air has started blowing when on fully on hot

Hi, Realy does seem to be a big problem this with the 4 cylinder engines, mine also did this and after a few hit and misses i found out it was the water pump tha had a nakerd seel and leeking so try see if there is any water dropping from engine casing if there is then thats more than likly your problem also bleed your radiator this will alow you some time to get the water pump sorted if it is that.

Common problem is the water pump impeller breaks off and doesnt circulate the coolant properly causing the engine to overheat and no heater. Remove and inspect the water pump and then bleed the system
