car has been sittin up for 2 years , put battery in started ok , drives very slow or not at all when in gear its a auto ?

After that long, give it a FULL service and fresh fuel and see if its any better.
Check all electrical connections/earths and pipes for leaks etc.

You need a diagnostic scan of the gearbox to see what's wrong.
