Oil smell when heater on

2004 BMW 3 Series 1.8
Car: BMW 3 Series
Year: 2004
Variant: 1.8

i recently had the car serviced and when it came back everytime i put the heater on i could smell oil. i am sure it had to much oil in from the service but the mechanic said it had not but that a gasket was leaking right next to the air intake for the heater. is this possible or could there be another reason caused by to much oil in the car

sound to me like either the engine oil has spilt over the exhaust on refilling, or that the cam cover gasket is leaking. or something like that can cause this. especially if it was not doing it before the service. take a look!!!
