2006 Audi A4 esp light on

When machine was plugged in to the car, code 00493 came up saying ESP Sensor unit G419 No signal/No communication with car. The sensor unit was replaced but the code still showing and wont be deleted, therefore the esp light is still on the dash. The Garage is now stumped. Any ideas ?

Check the brake lights are working ok , a brake light switch failure can cause this .If not need to scan it with VAG-COM .

Checked brake lights. They are working fine. What does VAG-COM do ? Do I need to take it to an Audi dealer to cure the problem ? Thanks.
