ALARM/Interior light

2002 Audi A3
Car: Audi A3
Year: 2002
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
I believe I have a problem with a door sensor/switch. The interior light fades & brightens repetitively & when this happens the alarm sounds on activating alarm, however, it doesn't if I disable the alarm & just use central locking. How would I prove which switch?

Might be wrong but thought there is no switch in the door pillar of an Audi A3 The switch is built in to the door lock and you will probably need a new lock to sort this fault .

Found this re.fault

Its built into the door lock & only comes with the lock.
You need to get an Audi dealer to read the fault memory as it can be a number of different faults. Any one of the door locks, bonnet switch, boot lock switch or interior monitoring sensors if fitted.

Just found a similar problem with hatch switch being defective because of rear wash leaking into hatch and causing breakdown of switch. My rear washer isn't currently working; I wonder?!
