Noisey engine and oil light on

the oil light coms on with high revs but not on tickover the car failed mot on emissions too high have had timeing belt /water pump changed /oil and filter change the car has only done 79000 gen, millage full/ service have been told common fault with this year of manif (cause //long life service not being done ) the rattly noise comes from rocker box have been told might be engine damage do you think it is worth repairing ?

They tend to be noisy engines , but oil light coming on as well is a bit ominous and usually indicative of engine wear . Could be the hydraulic tappets that are noisy due to lack of oil pressure . You can also get rattle / noise if DMF ( dual mass flywheel worn ) . Add to that the emissions failure and it could well b e a money pit .
