A door lock typically consists of a tumbler mechanism inside the door. When the key is inserted and turned, it engages a series of pins or tumblers within the lock cylinder. Proper alignment of these pins allows the cylinder to rotate, enabling a linkage to actuate the locking mechanism. This mechanism either engages or disengages a bolt or latch, securing or releasing the door. In power-lock systems, electrical actuators replace the mechanical linkage but still control the locking mechanism based on user input or automatic triggers.
