Volkswagen Golf Engine & Drivetrain Problems

At slow speed in traffic, there seems to be a dead spot before the accelerator kicks in. Also slight judder when drive train kicks in.

I want to locate the Egr so I can try to clean it as it won't start and the RAC did a diagnostics and the faults may be tied to the Egr. I've look at other cars online but my car doesn't seem to have the Egr in the same place?
