The Problem:

My boot has stopped opening all of a sudden with the key fob. My car thinks my boot is open so my indicators keep going off if i lock my car with the fob so i have to keep locking it by putting the key in and the only way i can get in to my boot is through the compartment inside the car which is such a pain because its awkward. I don't think the fob is faulty because it locks the car so the battery can't be dead. Any ideas what the problem may be and how much i'd be looking at to fix?

This from Ka forum might be your problem ,

Ford Model:Streetka Luxury Sport/Convertible Posted 04 February 2009 - 01:13 AM

Note if you have a Streetka Sport/Convertible and find that with the soft top in the closed position, you cannot open the boot by pressing your key fob, you have to open both compartments inside the car to get in the boot, you should hear a funny bleep just before you start the engine its not very loud, the problem is that whilst the soft top hood is in the closed position you have pressed the button by accident that opens the hatch behind the seats that takes the soft top when in the open position, so the latch that keeps it shut has bean released, so re latch it down (you may have to undo the soft top from the window and lift the back end up to let the cover go up before you latch it back down) and ha presto the boot will open with the key fob again.

Hope this helps .

Suggested Solution

look for broken micro switches in the hood compartment (if it thinks the hood compartment is open because the switch may have a piece of metal broken off it that preeses the switch then it wont allow the boot to open).had this once and ford said you have to buy a whole locking mechanism so i just bought a similar micro switch from maplins ps they are mounted around the lock area
