The Problem
anybody got any top tips for replacing the waterpump?? regards chris johno

Engine Cooling - Water Pump—1.6L Zetec-E (Zetec)/1.8L Zetec-E (Zetec)/2.0L Zetec-E (Zetec) Focus 1999 (08/1998-12/2004)
Print Report An Error
Removal and Installation
Removal
Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
Drain the cooling system.
For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.
Loosen the water pump pulley retaining bolts.
Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to Section 303-05 Accessory Drive.
Remove the water pump pulley.
Detach the water pump from the water pump housing.
Rotate the water pump 180º within the water pump housing and remove it.
Discard the sealing ring
Installation
NOTE: Install a new water pump sealing ring.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Fill the cooling system.
For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.
Initialize the door window motors. For additional information, refer to Section 501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms.

Removal and Installation
Removal
Drain the cooling system.
For additional information, refer to: Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding (303-03 Engine Cooling, General Procedures).
Disconnect the battery ground cable.
For additional information, refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).
Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to:
Accessory Drive Belt (303-05 Accessory Drive, Removal and Installation),
Accessory Drive Belt - Vehicles Built Up To: 03/2002, Vehicles Without: Accessory Drive Belt Tensioner (303-05 Accessory Drive, Removal and Installation),
Accessory Drive Belt - Vehicles Built From: 03/2002, Vehicles Without: Accessory Drive Belt Tensioner (303-05, Removal and Installation).
Remove the generator and position it to one side.
Remove the water pump pulley.
Remove the timing belt upper cover.
CAUTION: Protect the timing belt and lower cover from contamination by the coolant.
Remove the water pump.
Remove and discard the water pump gasket.
Installation
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE: Install a new water pump gasket.
Install the water pump.
Install the generator.
Initialize the door window motors.
For additional information, refer to: Door Window Motor Initialization (501-11, General Procedures).
