Skoda Fabia Braking

2001 Skoda Fabia Problem

I am experiencing steering wheel judder when I brake at high speed 70 to 80 mph (resent trip on French Motorways). Have done all the normal checks like front brake disks run out, pad and calliper condition, track rod ends, front suspension bushes (recently renewed). There seems no slack in the steering mechanism and the tyres are in good condition and donít appear to show any sign of poor tracking. Has anyone any other ideas I can try?

Could try getting wheels re-balanced and worth having car tracked with a full geometry tracking system.

If it's only doing it when braking and at 70/ 80 mph , it cant be wheel balance .If pistons in calliper o.k and pads sliding o.k , it could be a fault with ABS kicking in . Possibly a faulty sensor etc . but you would have to get it scanned and see if fault code thrown up .

Ref how much runout> The front brakes runout is 0.0015" which is very negligable, I understand it can be up to 0.004". I have not checked the rear brakes but the problem appears to be coming from the front!!
