Can anyone please help me? The sppedomter cable on my TR6 has snapped and I need to replace it but a garage took the old cable out and then could not fit the replacement! Therefore, I thought that I could have a go myself but I do not know how I should place the cable to ensure that it fits and does not break again. Many thanks for any useful advice.

Must be some garage that cant fit a speedo cable !!!! Unless there is a reason for it , straight forward job . Perhaps there is a broken piece of speedo cable stuck in g/box drive or head entailing more work ? Most important that cable is routed as best you can without any kinks or fouling other parts i.e rubbing against exhaust or steering column etc .etc .Hope this helps you .

Have to agree with previous post. It's not much of a job, but can be fiddly. The routing has to formed in smooth curves and away from extreme heat. If this is not the first time it's snapped then you need to investigate why.
You need the correct cable, as lengths vary as to whether O/D is fitted.
I would suggest talking to a specialist to get a feel for what's involved. I have found TRGB, Canley Classics, and Chic Doig to be helpful and free with advice.
I don't have a TR6 (more's the pity!) so can't be more specific
