Depending on mileage , might be an idea to change ATF and clean / change filter . Also came across this re. Pajero box which I never knew about ,
Re: Auto box holding onto gears when cold
Years ago when I had my pajero 2.8, it was similar. It would seem that they do this on the winter pack (twin batteries) pajeros as a way to warm the engine/transmission?? seemed daft to me, so I just drove it steady until the temp guage moved and then carried on as normal. I think it has something to do with the overdrive inhibit temp sensor in the thermostat housing, as when the sensor failed on mine I linked the wire to earth fooling the gearbox ecu into thinking the car was warm enough to engage O/D(as the sensor switches to earth as the water temp reaches a certain point) and this made the box change up and in to O/D as if the car was warmed up.
I would'nt worry to much!!
