Seat Altea starter motor failed twice

working on this fine car starter failed,replaced, car ok for 8 wks starter failed again.checked wireing lead from iggy switch pos 3 0v with iggy off.12v when starting.BUT holding 7v at all other times,i think it should be 0v once car has started and i suspect faulty iggy switch.
has anyone herd of this problem with vw/seat
cars as i dont want to change iggy switch if its ment to have 7v on pos 3 when iggy is at pos 2??..have replaced the starter again and all ok but will this 7v burn out 2nd new starter.thanks

there should only be power running through this when cranking the engine as far as im aware but there is a chance it will happen again with the same fault soall i will suggest is have the vehicle inspected via the garage a could cause a fire and maybe even a costly repair to the wiring

There should be no voltage on the starter circuit once you release the key, this small amount of voltage that you have could be just enough to keep the starter engaged after start up and will be burning your starter motor out
