Gears are actually changed on these by a servo mech,
You can spot it on top of the Gbox and has a wiring harness running into it.
Worth while checking for water ingress.
But it does sound like it's locked up.
Scanning with Vaux tech scanner will read the box for codes.
It just like scanning the engine ECU but reading the gearbox ECU and servo.
It does kind of read like your guy just scanned the engine ECU.
