Reverse lights could just be faulty reverse light switch , minor job . With engine light on , you need to get it scanned and read fault codes .

I'm assuming he changed the fuel filter when last service was done as it was agreed? Could that be some sort of problem? And thanks for your help

If car has been serviced by Vauxhall dealership it would have been changed when due .If not , check your invoice for service and see what parts you got charged for .Unfortunately a lot of smaller places don't itemise their bills with parts fitted as should be done .Some " services " leave much to be desired and would not include changing fuel filter .

And would the fuel filter cause the spanner/service light to stay on? Thanks
